Park Rules

PicturePlease refrain from defacing park property as these markings are unsightly and can cause damage to the trees.
 1. Persons may be present in the Park only between the time of sunrise to sunset unless accompanied by an employee of the CPD during an organized program.

2. No person shall leave the official, or improved trails while visiting the natural areas of the Park, unless involved in a CPD organized program requiring off-trail activity.

3. No person shall injure, deface, destroy, or remove any rocks, trees, shrubs, plants, flowers, berries, nuts, mushrooms, or other vegetation.

4. No person shall disturb or harass any animal, its nest, or habitat within the Parks.

5. No person shall operate or ride a bicycle or motorized vehicle on Park trails.

6. No person shall leave any vehicle within the Park after closing except in an emergency and only after obtaining permission from the Director of the CPD.

7. No person shall fish in the rivers without an Ohio fishing license.

8. Fishing is allowed without a license in the ponds at Lowe-Volk Park and Unger Park. It is a catch and release fishing policy.

9. No person shall release any wild or domestic animal or plant in the Parks.

10. No person shall swim or wade in any pond in the Parks. Wading or swimming in the river is prohibited at Sears Woods.

11. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited in the Parks.

12. Dogs must be restrained by a leash no longer than 8 feet in length. Any excrement deposited by a dog must be immediately removed by the owner or custodian. Dogs are prohibited at Sears Woods and Daughmer Savannah.

13. Littering is prohibited. A carry-in carry-out policy for trash is in effect for the Parks. 

14. Hunting and trapping are prohibited in the Parks, except for those awarded a permit through the CPD Hunting Lottery. Call the CPD Office at (419) 683-9000 for more information.

15. Engine-powered model and toy airplanes, boats, cars, drones, sirens or other noise making devices are prohibited.

16. Metal detectors are prohibited in the Parks.

17. All historical artifacts such as arrowheads or points, glass bottles and other artifacts within the Park are the property of the CPD. If you find an artifact, please contact the CPD Office at 419-683-9000. Significant artifacts are placed into educational displays.

18. Ice skating and ice fishing are prohibited on the ponds and rivers in the Parks.

ALL STATE LAWS APPLY
Ohio Revised Code sections, including motor vehicles, wildlife and environmental protection all apply to Park properties and may be enforced by any Ohio law enforcement officer.

Friends of the CPD is dedicated to helping the Crawford Park District achieve its goals of continuing nature conservation and education in Crawford County.  Financial contributions by our Friends members helped build the Lowe-Volk Nature Center, preserve over 300 acres of parks, support community nature programs and develop an Astronomy Club!  The groups we serve in our community include day cares, public & private schools, home-school groups, assisted living centers, 4-H and Scout clubs, civic clubs and more!  Crawford Park District oversees the care and continued development of 6 public parks and nature preserves in Crawford County.  We appreciate your continued support and welcome you as a Friend of the CPD!  Please click on the DONATE tab to give!  Thank you for your generosity!
