Conservation

Conservation is important for preserving and protecting the natural world for future generations. There are a multitude of ways that one can practice conservation in hopes of preserving our natural resources such as recycling, conserving electricity & water, using solar power, converting land back to natural areas, managing habitat for wildlife, and planting native vegetation to name a few. CPD has been committed to the conservation of our local cultural and natural history through a variety of actions such as owning and operating functioning parks, preserves, and wildlife areas for public enjoyment and consumption; promoting and managing habitat for native wildlife; converting land back to natural areas creating safe havens for flora and fauna (Sandusky Headwaters Preserve: H20 project); and planting native vegetation among others.
The CPD staff strive to provide users with the best possible experience at all CPD properties no matter the activity, while always keeping conservation and safety our top priorities. CPD offers a variety of passive and active recreational opportunities throughout the park system that provides users various opportunities to fish, hike, hunt, and nature watch in different locations safely without negatively impacting park properties. It is our goal to provide bountiful and productive habitat for all wildlife enthusiasts to enjoy.
