UNGER PARK         Unger Park is 53 acres in size and features over two miles of hiking trails that are open daily from sunrise to sunset. Visitors can see a prairie, forest, wetland, pond, and the Sandusky River. The trails connect to Aumiller Park and the Friendship bridge over the Sandusky River. There are two prairie gardens with signs that share the names of the plants and how they were used by Native Americans and pioneers. Environmental education programs are available for area school classes and other organized groups. A historic barn is open to tour during special events. The park is located on Nevada Road about one mile west of the square in Bucyrus. There are no restrooms on site. The creation of Unger Park was made possible by a generous donation of a portion of the Unger family farm from Marie Unger of Bucyrus. The Park first opened to the public on October 4, 1997.
