The Preserve is owned by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Natural Areas. The trails and parking lot are maintained by the Crawford Park District.

Welcome to Sears Woods State Nature Preserve, a 98 acre sanctuary for wildlife, plants, and people. Sears Woods is named in honor of the nationally renowned Yale Professor of Ecology Paul B. Sears from whose family this preserve was purchased. The Preserve is open daily from sunrise to sunset. Please stay on the established trails to help protect the plants and wildlife of the area.

Sears Woods is a natural area that features one of the best  preserved forests in Ohio. The trails are over one mile in length and  visit a small meadow and large forest, with some of the trail along the Sandusky River. A walk here gives you a glimpse of the type of forest  the pioneers saw when they first explored this area. There are no restrooms on site.
