| ( Unger Park & Sears Woods are starting points with parking lots ) Some of the points of interest along this bikeway are:Unger Park....Unger Park is a 43 acre natural area and historic farm that is being developed to offer area citizens opportunities for outdoor recreation such as hiking, bird watching, and nature study. The Park contains one and 2/3 miles of hiking trails, which are open daily from sunrise to sunset. Sears Woods State Nature Preserve....Sears Woods features 98 acres of pristine deciduous forest along the Sandusky River, with a one mile hiking trail. Camp Michael..... is a short distance down Shupp Rd. This 37 acre natural area serves area Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Visitors who would like to stop and hike the trails are welcome. Daughmer Bur Oak Savannah.... (Private property view only from road). This 35 acre area is considered the finest example remaining in Ohio of a native bur oak savannah. This site has never been plowed, thus giving you a view of what the first pioneers would have seen on this ground. |
